A little info about this class...
Starting to think about Literature GCSEs? Feel like you want to explore new and exciting texts? Or perhaps you are a keen theatre-goer and want to be exposed to the best playwright of all time? Then come along to our Shakespeare club for 12-16 year olds.
In these sessions, we will be exploring some of Shakespeare’s most famous characters, looking at how context has influenced his writing and analysing structure and form as well as language. You will learn how Shakespeare is a master at crafting language by using prose, poetry and iambic pentameter whilst also understanding how Aristotle and the ancient Greeks impacted his writing.
We will study a play for about 10 weeks, the work will be creative and artistic, so that students feel confident in all things Shakespearean!
There will also be a chance for them to embody their favourite character and use their dramatic skills to read the plays aloud and present some of Shakespeare’s famous monologues to the group if they want to!
For safeguarding purposes, each Zoom lesson includes a brief registration at the beginning which requires children to have their webcam switched on. If your child would like to join lessons but is anxious about this or needs to have their face covered during lessons for religious or any other reason please get in touch, and we can arrange an alternate method of registration for them.
