A little info about this class...
These classes cover the key areas of KS3 Religious Studies, across two years. You can join the class at any point. Religious Studies can be divided into two key areas, Religious Studies and Thematic Studies, these will be taught alternatively each half term.
Religious Study – You will consider and investigate the existence of God, ethics and religions within society. You will also learn about the six main religions, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and Hinduism: their founders, key figures, sacred buildings and religious texts. The lessons will also cover beliefs and practices, rites of passage and how religion impacts upon daily life.
Thematic Study- In these lessons you will learn about ‘Poverty’, ‘War’, ‘Crime and Punishment’, ‘Religion and Earth’ and ‘Human Rights’. You will develop skills in analysing, evaluating and conveying reasoned arguments.
These lessons will be an excellent preparation for the GCSE Religious Studies AQA course.
Optional independent learning activities will be provided weekly for you to complete
For safeguarding purposes, each Zoom lesson includes a brief registration at the beginning which requires children to have their webcam switched on. If your child would like to join lessons but is anxious about this or needs to have their face covered during lessons for religious or any other reason please get in touch, and we can arrange an alternate method of registration for them.
