GCSE foundation

Everyone can succeed at maths. People can sometimes feel that they don’t understand or are frustrated because they have not understood a basic building block or have moved onto a new topic too quickly. At LLP, we take the time to explore maths in a fun and engaging manner. Each lesson consists of multiple examples, interactive tasks, and problem-solving activities.

The foundation GCSE mathematics specification is a popular course. The GCSE specification has 3 written papers: 1 non-calculator and 2 calculator papers. Furthermore, students can sit the exam in May/June (and resits are available the following November).

Unlike all our other courses, the price for GCSE is £5.00 +VAT a week per student to reflect the amount of work the teacher will need to do to successfully guide you through your GCSE. You will be expected to do 1 – 2 hours of independent work each week.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CLASS IS REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK  BECAUSE OF IT’S POPULARITY WITH THE SAME CONTENT AND PLACES ARE LIMITED.  PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP FOR ONE OF THE SESSIONS PER STUDENT PER WEEK AS WE ARE UNABLE TO GIVE REFUNDS IF YOU SIGN UP FOR MORE THAN ONE SESSION, AS THAT STOPS SOMEONE ELSE FROM HAVING THE OPTION OF A PLACE.

For safeguarding purposes, each Zoom lesson includes a brief registration at the beginning which requires children to have their webcam switched on. If your child would like to join lessons but is anxious about this or needs to have their face covered during lessons for religious or any other reason please get in touch, and we can arrange an alternate method of registration for them.

Please be aware that all our GCSE and IGCSE courses offer a rolling curriculum and cater for children with a wide range of abilities, previous knowledge/study and willingness to work independently. Although we cover the curriculum in the period stated, it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that your child has covered and understood the entire syllabus, kept appropriate notes and has carried out exam practice before they sit their exam. Our teacher will give short exam practice throughout the course and teach the children how to answer the questions, but it is a good idea for your child to sit practice exam papers in the run-up to their actual exam. Our teachers are always happy to help and advise but please make sure you know what your child has studied and areas that need more work before they are ready to sit the exam.
