A little info about this class...
Read and explore some wonderful books with a friendly group of Home Ed students. Be ready to be inspired and to inspire!
“Books and doors are the same thing. You open them, and you go through into another world.” – Jeanette Winterson
Page Turners is a weekly Book Club aimed at teenagers who are between 12 – 16 years old, however keen readers of all ages are welcome. Every week, we will discuss a selected book with others who love reading. Each book will last between 8-10 sessions.
Due to some of its themes and content of this course, the content for this club is 12+. If your child is younger than 12 but you would like them to study this course, please make sure that you are aware of the content and either watch the recordings before your child watches them or watch the lessons with your child to ensure that you are happy with the content and can talk it through with your child.
Each week we will have fun exploring specific themes before breaking off into small groups to talk about the books in more detail. We can even do some drama activities based on our reading. Reading aloud and drama tasks will always be optional, so you do not have to participate in these activities if you don’t want to. You will need to read the required chapters before each session, so you have plenty of ideas to share!
Please note, all our books are chosen to be age-appropriate but also to ensure interesting and stimulating discussion! It is the parent or carer’s responsibility to ensure they are happy with their child reading the chosen book.
The current book is The Other Side of Truth by Beverly Naidoo. The next book is The Declaration by Gemma Malley starting week commencing 9th September 24.
For safeguarding purposes, each Zoom lesson includes a brief registration at the beginning which requires children to have their webcam switched on. If your child would like to join lessons but is anxious about this or needs to have their face covered during lessons for religious or any other reason please get in touch, and we can arrange an alternate method of registration for them.
