This Word Wizards course has been designed to significantly improve the reading skills of learners. Learning grammar and punctuation is essential for fluent reading and writing. The skills acquired in this course will positively impact any other literacy-based home learning.
Each session will begin with a short, picture-starter activity – there is no right or wrong answer allowing your child’s individualism to shine through. Here children will be exposed to a range of vocabulary and will work on inference skills.
Punctuation and grammar have never been more fun, as this lesson element is delivered via games and engaging activities. Learners will grapple with different sentence constructions, using correct technical language.
The main part of the lesson will involve sharing a quality text, with a specific reading focus and then children will respond to different types of questions. We will look at various genres, including poetry, fantasy, adventure, children’s classics, etc. All resources will be available for you prior to the class and there will be a chance at the end of each session for children to share and reflect on their learning. For safeguarding purposes, each Zoom lesson includes a brief registration at the beginning which requires children to have their webcam switched on. If your child would like to join lessons but is anxious about this or needs to have their face covered during lessons for religious or any other reason please get in touch, and we can arrange an alternate method of registration for them.
